This mixtape is brought to you by
my midlife crisis
amidst many crisis
And who I am kidding
my life may be more than half over
46, but I still feel like the youth
I still feel like my generation got screwed
There was still supposed to be hope, renewed
But they got us in the matrix of the iphone and AI
and so many more things most of us don’t really need yet
Writing, but I haven’t even begun to bleed yet
The depression is winning many hours
So I keep running, climbing, and writing for many hours more
Forever more
And I realize that is where my hope is
A seed planted in me
By so many, a list is impossible
But I’ll try
But first why did you all have to die?
And what’s on the other side of life?
It all goes back to Jack Kerouac
Who showed a road out of all of this conformity
Damn Jack I’m approaching the age that you left us now
I know you killed yourself with the bottle
So I’m stopping after two or three beers now
Never stopping writing
Never stopping climbing
Because I do it all for you now
Are you watching now?
Or all we all alone?
I just want to age like 2 Pac’s rhymes
Well many of them
Times change and words change
But the sentiment of Tupac Shakur
Was always “we got money for war
But can’t feed the poor”
A poor excuse for an artist I am
I feel at times
Haven’t gotten rich off my rhymes
But I guess that was never what I was chasing
I just realize as time goes by in America
Money is always the best resource in tough times
My favorite rhymes for many moons have been from J. Cole
Set off on a road trip to find home
With a dollar and a dream
If you were following Cole’s mixtapes
You know what I mean
The soundtrack of my life
46, and I still feel at the start of some version
…of my life
46 I guess is perfect for a mid life crisis
Amongst many other earth crisis
Can’t buy my way out of it
So I’ll try to write my way out of it
And in no way is AI writing any of it
Channel the muse and she will be writing all of it
